Muppety Puppety Love

I grew up on The Muppets.

Muppet Babies.

The Muppet Show.

The Muppets take Manhatten.

I first saw the Eiffel Tower in a children's book where Miss Piggy goes to Paris.

Maybe that's why we adopted a dog that looks like a Muppet:
and why every time these Zappos puppet commercials (made with real customer service phone calls!) come on I can't help but laugh.

I mean isn't that just charming

(Scout just rested her head on the return button and pushed us all the way down to here)

the bipolar post.

Has anyone noticed that when a movie or T.V. show wants to make fun of a place to be or go they choose Ohio?

I don't think Ohio is that bad. But I guess, being the social creature I am, I live life not worrying so much about where I am, but more who I am with.

I like Ohio. I like the sparse landscape. I find it amusing that people here wear socks with sandals. I like that I don't have to worry about hurricane season or devastating earthquakes. I really enjoy having four distinct seasons and would find it hard to live anywhere that didn't.

Speaking of, Fall is just around the corner. Can you feel it?

Pumpkins and soup and the smell of leaves changing. Not to mention our annual Beauty Drive.

Also:

Have ya'll heard the statistic of people that believe that Obama is a muslim? 18%.  That's kind of a lot of people, and I think I know a few of them.

I usually don't get political. And even now, I'm actually not. What I want to say about this is that it's amazing how wrong we can be about a person. Good or bad. We get riled up and waste time sending email forwards and talking (and talking) hatefully about people of power. I've known that Obama is a devoted Christian (even the smallest amount of research would produce that answer) but even if he wasn't, who. the. heck. am. I. to. judge.

God is the God of everything. Even Barack Obama. Even if he was a muslim. Which he isn't.

p.s. I am not advocating for Obama or any other political figure. I am advocating for grace. I am very very neutral (think Switzerland) when it comes to politics.

Cosi, grilled cheese, etc.

Part One: Cosi
Ciara and I went to Cosi today, we were accompanied by two handsome little fellas. Her kids, Rowan and Miles.

I hadn't been to Cosi since I was about 10 so I was really looking forward to it.

When we first walked in it smelled like popcorn and kids in groups wearing neon orange ymca shirts were RUNNING EVERYWHERE. Ciara calmly got us our pink bracelet passes and I followed her lead.

We had a lot of fun. Mostly it was fun watching Rowan discover things, but I did venture off pushing Miles in a stroller to discover some things of my own.

In the end I thought a few things about Cosi:

1. Really, really cool place, some areas reminded me of what it would feel like to actually be on the set of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

2. Couldn't stop thinking about all the germs migrating on every inch of everything. But I tried. Does this mean I have some sort of issue? Don't answer that.

3. I wish they had a Cosi that was art and music based too.

We are going back next week to check out the Titanic exhibit before it closes up shop. Can't wait!

Part Deux: Grilled Cheese
I will make this short.
When I got home I made myself a cheddar and baby swiss grilled cheese with tomato soup. I have a tip that all the world must know about how I make my grilled cheese.

I put honey on it. On both pieces of bread, the side that faces the cheese.

The sweetness brings out the flavor in the cheese and balances out the acidity in the soup so well it makes me want to kiss my fingertips and exclaim "MAMA MIA!"

Try it, you will never go back.

Part Three: Etc.
Ciara's awesome husband Collin designed a funny poster that got posted on this blog. If it's not the first one that shows up, it's the one about diapers. He said it took him 15 minutes. The guy is walking talent (not to mention funny).

The first of many I'm sure...

This is the first color drawing I've done of Scout. I've done a couple on our chalk board wall already, but this one I did special for our friends who dog sat for us while on vacation. :)

Have a great Monday.

Watch out for those Summa Babies.

I was going through some things and found this drawing I did  last summer.

Made me laugh.

Scout took a vacation too.

While on vacation we left Scout with our friends The Armfelts.

When we got home and picked her up I expected her to pee on the floor in excitement.

That did not happen.

She gave me a few pity licks and wagged her tail a little, but truth be told, I think she liked them better then us.

Also, I'm pretty sure she came back to us a better dog. So far no accidents in the house, sleeping COMPLETELY through the night and more snuggling then ever.

Those Armfelts are good people.

If you want to sneak a peak at some photos they took of her while they were being the best dog sitters ever,

Lake Norris you'll be calling my name until next time...

Last week we went on vacation to Lake Norris in LaFollette, TN
with the Tillar's and the Reales'.

It was
so
much
fun.

Here is the evidence:

The Road Trip begins.

We stopped in Cinci for some Jim Dandy's.
Well stinkin' worth it, let me tell you.

As soon as we got there we headed for the water.
So happy.

A
fabulous time
it was.

My dear, it's been so long.

Will you forgive me?

I've been doing a lot of life living and have completely blown off the record taking of it.

There is a lot to share of course and I will get to it reaaal soon.

Until then here is a photo I took of Drew Jones & I years ago. I recently got it printed large (24" 36" wooo boy!), framed it and Drew Jones promptly hung it in our dining room.

It's called "Americana".
If you click on it and view it larger you'll see why.

Love, and haven't seen you in so long hugs.

me.
