Baby legs are adorable. I have them pinned here and blogged about them here.
And about two weeks after blogging about them Westley got a little package in the mail from his buddy Parker sending him that very pair. What a sweet dude that Parker is.
After getting them in the mail I got inspired and decided to make some myself. Then I realized this would involve a sewing machine and panicked. Then calmed myself down and went on a Pinterest hunt for an easy tutorial.
Oh Pinterest, you always deliver.
I found a tutorial that I thought looked easy enough: Here is the original pin.
Basically she takes a sock, cuts it up and sews it back together without the toe and heal and voila! Baby legs!
Figured it was a good first timer project.
I bought some tub socks and realized they were long enough that I didn't have to sew two parts together I could just cut the foot part off and sew a seam! WIN!
So I got to work:
The socks after I cut the foot part off
SEWING.
I look much calmer than I feel inside here. SEWING.
And this is how the seam turned out. Reaaaal crazy like.
Or it's just that I am learning to sew and scream a little when I push down on the sewing pedal thingy.
Anyway, wonk as they are, they work! As seen on yesterday's post of Westley worriedly eating his first meal:
And that very pair of leg warmers in packed up in my suitcase to go to Boston TODAY to visit some awesome women and 3 sweet babes.
e & ee - from e tells tales
bridget & parker - from tales of me and the husband
molly - from mr. & mrs. rigoloso in detail
and
shannon & behr - from the scribble pad
I'll be honest, I am nervous. What if they think I'm lame? What if my baggage gets lost and I don't have any clothes or a car seat for Westley? What if Westley cries on the plane the entire time and everybody hates me?!
I guess we'll seeeeeee!
I'll have details next week. But probably not till mid to end of the week because when I come home I'll have bags to unpack and sleep to catch up on.
Okay, now link up friends! Show me whatchu got!

you MADE those legwarmers that i was so lovin' in yesterday's post? go you. and i'd wet myself a little with the sewing machine. e on the other hand is so clever with it that she's probably got it packed in her suitcase to boston to whip up a shirt for herself in case ee spits up on all the other ones she's packed.
ReplyDeletei can't even really sew a button on. sad.
see you in a few hours! eeee!
Oh my goodness, I'm doing this! Awesome.
ReplyDeleteBridget, screw you! Now I have to unpack my sewing machine so it's not awkward.
ReplyDeleteCandis, they look fab! The only reason I use a sergee on knit is so you can still stretch the fabric without breaking the seams since serger seams are flexible. You did a good job!
This whole post cracked me up!
ReplyDeleteYou look more calm than you are inside? Ha!
Those little warmers you made are adorable even if your seam is wonk.
And I agree with B- E will totally have that machine packed. Probably her surger, too.
See.You.Soon.
Surger. Serger.
ReplyDeleteI'm lame.
okay one - love bridget and jealous that you get to meet in real life.
ReplyDeletetwo - you live in columbus? i moved up to cleveland from there about two years ago. we must meet.
So cute and simple! Love it!
ReplyDeleteBahaha I love your "calm" face. I had to make my own visual of your actual "freaking out" face, which was really all I needed to make my morning so. much. better.
ReplyDeleteLove those legwarmers! D lived in legwarmers her first year of life--I keep meaning to knit her up some more that fit her chunky toddler thighs! Can't wait for the Boston recap. All those cute babies and funny babes? It's sure to be perfect.
ReplyDeleteso so cute. i want to make these in my size. :) it was sooo wonderful meeting you. you are gorgeous and exude such warmth! and let's not even get started on westley... xo
ReplyDeleteyou did a great job! it's probably just fine that those seems look a little stretched out because they need to fit over wests delicious thighs without leaving red marks!
ReplyDeletesuch a good idea! love these!
ReplyDeleteLindsay
I just stumbled upon your blog from tales of me and the husband and had to say hello since we are nearly neighbors! :)
ReplyDeleteadorable! i just found your blog through elizabeth and bridget. i'm a new follower!
ReplyDeletewhere is the bib from?
ReplyDeleteJust stumbled upon your blog from E Tells Tales (just found her's too). These are really cute and seem simple enough for even a sewing-machine illiterate like myself.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog through bridget and E-tells-tales. Those leggings are so cute! If you make them again you could try a zig zag stitch those stretch more than a straight stitch. Also if you were stretching the fabric as you were sewing that might be why it was a bit stretched out. Anyways, very cute blog!
