It was downright HOT that day and the zoo was hoppin'. We put on sunglasses, rubbed on some sunscreen and grabbed our zoo maps. Westley was very serious and observant taking everything in.
First stop was the flamingos.
We saw stingrays and pretty fish. I seriously wish I could see what he was thinking during all of this.
We rode on the carousel! It went faster than I thought it would and caught me off guard at first! But Westley hung on tight to the pole and I kept a really good grip on him. We got the hang of it pretty quickly and had so much fun.
Look at this kid. Goodness. Did I mention that his shirt and shorts are Drew's from when he was little? 80's vintage.
We did it up right and stopped in the gift shop on the way out. We left with the cutest stuffed elephant ever in the world. He somehow acquired the name Reggie a few days later.
Tired but still happy we called it a day.
It was a truly sweet day. I can't remember ever enjoying a trip to the zoo that much. I loved watching Westley spot the animals and smile at them. I will never ever forget that first ride on the carousel. How his eyes lit up when I put him on the horses back. Westley was such a doll the entire time and we are excited to go back soon.

THE SUNGLASSES!
ReplyDeleteI can hardly stand the cuteness. He is too sweet.
And I love that family picture. You look so happy! :)
the cap and sunglasses and serious expression are TOO MUCH. i was dying over that first picture. adorable and awesome and badass and everything in between.
ReplyDeleteits all so much cuteness. He looks like such a big proud boy standing next to the elephant. which is now my desktop background. I honestly have never seen you more beautiful and glowing then with Westley.
ReplyDeleteWestley makes the BEST faces. Love his expressions. And your family outting to the zoo looks like it was such a sweet time. You didn't even have to write that at the end...the pictures say it all!

ReplyDelete2. speaking of stalkers, hi! I met you once at josh and laura's and laura told me about your blog. naturally I had to stop by. Now I read you and E....
3. I am highly interested in getting a painting from Drew but I ain't rich. How much do his paintings run for? I am connecting the dots that the one I L O V E in Josh and Laura's room must be by him. I lust after it literally every time I'm at their house.
I love your family! :o)
ReplyDeleteuh, and by "speaking of stalking" I'm referring to your stranger man at your door post. Not weird of me at all to reference a post from weeks ago.... not at all. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gersh...your boy in those sunglasses! So freaking cute.
ReplyDeleteGeeze your family is the cutest!!
ReplyDeleteHe is so adorable! I like the one with the shades on. Nice post!

The sunglasses are gold, Mama!
ReplyDeleteHey there! Love your blog. Could you please please please do an update about our cloth diapering adventure? We are expecting our first baby and are considering cloth but despite tons of research, we're confused. Would love a real Mom's take on everything cloth...how many you really need, cleaning (we have an HE machine so I've been discouraged from what I've read online), wipes, rash creams, best brands, etc. it would be really appreciated! Thanks and please keep blogging/inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI've actually been thinking of doing a follow up cloth diaper post! So the answer is definitely yes!
ReplyDeleteCheck back or follow me on Twitter because I usually update when I post on there.
And CONGRATS ON BABY!!!! :)
i know i'm like 10 years late on responding to this post, but i was wondering what that wrap is that you are using to carry westley!! it looks perfect and so easy to use!! i have the ergo and the moby wrap, but i like the looks of that one!
ReplyDeleteanyway, your zoo trip looks like so much fun! loving the sunglasses! i bought mason a pair but he pulls them off, throws them on the ground, then looks at me and says "uh oh."
