You can imagine our excitement.
So I've been thinking of all that we'll do and things that will make it feel all summery and good.
I decided to make a list because I am a Mom now and that is what we do.
Here is what we've come up with so far:
1.
For the first time since Christmas we are going on a long road trip. (Lord hear our prayers)

NASHVILLE! GOOD FRIENDS! COWBOY BOOTS! SOUTHERN ACCENTS! WOOP WOOP!
2.
Columbus Art Festival! ART AND ELEPHANT EARS?
Columbus Art Festival! ART AND ELEPHANT EARS?
FTLOG YES.
3.
Drew Jones and I are getting babysitter and seeing this movie goshdarnit.

The only things that could make the anticipation better is if Tim Riggins or RG were in it.
Amen?
4.
Drew Jones and only watched the second to last show and end of the finale of American Idol. And ya'll even in that little of time I can tell that Phil Phillips is legit.
I think we've found our summer anthem:
5.
We just got a Zoo membership so you better believe we'll be haulin' it out to Powell to see those flamingos on the regular.
6.
The Scioto Mile Fountain! It is freeeeee! Westley loves water but isn't big enough to justify spending money on expensive waterpark tickets so this will be perfect!
7.
Summer would not be complete without some sort of home improvement project (or two). So here are three (hi Drew Jones!).
A: Granite paint for countertops.

Do you think this is legit?
Because I want to do it to our green countertops
that look just like the sad before like yesterday
B:
Paint our dingy stairwell and hallway.
Just something neutral.
Oh and might as well throw the bathroom in there too.
C:
Paint our our remaining plain dining room chairs some fun colors.
via
I think we've got some fun colors already, but we may have to check out the oops paint at Home Depot and see what we come across.
8.
The Columbus Museum of Art has this great looking exhibition called "The Radical Camera" I have been wanting to check out. New York's Photo League images capturing 1936-1951. From what I have heard the images are vulnerable and revealing. So yeah put that on the list.
9.
Because Drew will be home we will have more time to work on our shop! I have had so many ideas that I have just not had the time for and so I hope to experiment some and come up with some fresh concepts! I think we'll be adding some Drew Jones art as well so look out for thaaaaat.
10.
I'd really really like to do this again.
And that is what I've got so far folks.
What is on your list of things to do this summa?
Got any good plans or ideas?

nashville, YES. (how far is that from you?)
granite paint, YES. (tell me how it goes. we can't afford granite but we have fugly countertops too).
Yes, very mumford and sons for sure!
DeleteNashville is like 6 hours from us. Maybe 15. Depends on Westley.
I will let you know how granite paint goes IF we are brave enough to try it. I think we will be considering the alternative forest green 90's countertops.
THIS ALL SOUNDS AMAZING I HEREBY INVITE MYSELF TO EVERYTING.
ReplyDeleteTING.
I want to buy a Drew Jones painting for my house.... if I could afford to I'd buy like three. Will he be at the columbus art festival?
I'll make sure to call you when we are painting said dingy hallway!!!
DeleteFREE LABOR.
Drew won't be at the arts festival as a selling artist but you can just come over to our house and peruse his studio. Or he can do something just for you!
Summa is so good. Especially down here in little-beach-town-florida.
ReplyDeleteBut I do have to admit that "Summa Drew" kind of sounds like a rap name ;)
This was amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat granite paint? What is that even? Cause we need it! Ours are white FORMICA. I need some fakery in this bakery stat.
I JUST made that up.
Also, Nashville is like less than four hours from us. I'm just saying (EXTENDED TRIP SOUTH)
nyc. nyc. nyc.
ReplyDeleteYeah SUMMA Drew!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the perfect summer! Radical camera is awesome. And when the heck is Gatsy coming out?! I heard December so I better make sure I don't miss it!!
ReplyDeleteDECEMBER! NO! I CANT WAIT! But you are probably right because all the good movies come out then!!
DeleteWe took Jack to the Scioto Mile ast summer... it was SO FUN. I can't wait to take him again, but he now has this thing about water in his face (if you ever hear a kid screaming bloody murder, it's okay, it's just Jack getting his hair washed). Oh, we'll for sure take him again, I just don't know how it'll go!
ReplyDeleteps I don't know how to change my name on here so it doesn't show up at "lcurtis" (which makes me feel old and technically incompetent.) Any ideas?
That foundtain looks incredible. We have spray parks here in DC and they are our favorite. Hopefully Westley loves it as much as Behr does.

ReplyDeleteAMEN - I miss Tim Riggins!
ReplyDeletethat fountain is amazing. love the different coloured chairs. wondering about how the whole painting the counter thing granite like would work... i mean is the pain all swirly?
ReplyDeleteCounter tops - I haven't heard of/ seen the granite paint but I have actually used the Rust-Oleum Countertop Transformations. It is awesome stuff. For about $200 bucks my kitchen looks brand new! I would imagine the stuff you're looking at is legit too. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!

Brian and I checked out "The Radical Camera" last time we were in Columbus. Did you guys ever make it out to see it? It was really interesting. :)
