I still disagree. But I teach 500 black students at my school and I have be able to tell the differences even between twins. Eyes, cheekbones, ears, nose, lips...they are all different sweetie. They both have black hair in a ponytail, and similar roundness under their chins, but past that, I can't find any similarities.
I'm not saying they are exactly the same or that they look similar just because they are black. It's the same as anyone looking at anyone of any color and finding them to look similar. I'm sorry that you thought I would be so ignorant to think that two people look alike just because they are black.
For example I think Drew Jones looks like Bon Jovi & my friend Elizabeth looks like Julia Stiles. The aren't EXACT matches by any stretch at all, and I don't compare them just because they are white. That is silly.
Hey Melissa, props for teaching black people (?) I teach black kids too, but I'm not sure how that fact equates to Candis thinking all black people look alike? I happen to think it's an uncanny resemblance. Also, using the word sweetie does not fix such an unkind comment, or at least the unkindness that was insinuated.
Why do people leave unkind comments? I too find them similar. And what a great role model of a strong woman for her to be compared to. It's sad this was taken so out of context! I think everyone else who regularly reads your blog knows you would never be like that.
I know! I love Oprah and think she is beautiful and has this magic to her. Same with Gabby. It is this star quality beauty and magic and confidence. I love it.
what a mean comment to leave on the blog of someone as sweet as Lady Lee! Wow, I sure hope that this sort of pre-judgement and quickness to attack isn't imparted on any of those 500 impressionable children she teaches.
I totally see it, and I think part of the similarity is their magnetic personalities. Gaby needs her own talk show, I could watch her all day, I love that girl.
@ Quality Senior Care! I googled it too! I definitely thought cute little Gabby looked like Oprah from the beginning of the Olympics! Beautiful smile, brilliant dark eyes! My kids got sick of me saying it! What an adorable girl!
I totally agree. I wondered why she looked so familiar! Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteWell that's eerie. Secret love child?
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome. You are awesome.

ReplyDeleteCandis! I saw you post this last night while I was twitter stalking and I was shaking my head, yesyesyes. I showed my sister, too and she agrees!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that Gabby the cutest? She always makes me laugh when she is interviewed. I think she must have practiced in the mirror a hundred times.
GO USA!

ReplyDeleteyep, i see it. (and this is all makin' me feel out of the loop in our non tv state. i need me some olympics!)
ReplyDeleteYes you do! But according to the commercial propoganda, you can watch "real Olympic videos" at nbcolympics.com :) Do it and join the fun!
DeleteI do now! Never noticed before!
ReplyDeletea kind, sweet, honest thought provoked such negativity? that's sad "sweetie".
ReplyDeleteI do! That's how I ended up here. Did a Google search to see if anybody else felt that way. Oh, and I am black...:)
